- Volume per draw
- — mL
- Syringe units per draw
- — units
- Draws per vial
- — full draws
Formulas used
- concentration (mg/mL) = vial contents (mg) ÷ solvent volume (mL)
- volume per draw (mL) = dose (mg) ÷ concentration (mg/mL)
- syringe units = volume per draw (mL) × 100 (U-100) or × 40 (U-40)
- draws per vial = vial contents (mg) ÷ dose (mg)
This calculator does not suggest, check, or endorse any dose or protocol. It converts the figures you type using the formulas shown above, for research reference only.
How this is calculated
Worked exampleA 10 mg vial with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 10 ÷ 2 = 5 mg/mL. A 0.25 mg draw is 0.25 ÷ 5 = 0.05 mL, which reads 5 units on a U-100 insulin syringe (0.05 × 100). The same vial holds 10 ÷ 0.25 = 40 such draws.
